Local Emergency Planning Committee’s have been required since 1986 as part of the Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA) under the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA Title III)
LEPC’s are groups of people just like you who share the mission of protecting the health and safety of the community from chemical incidents and disasters of various kinds.
LEPC’s partner with state and local governments, businesses and emergency responders to enhance the following list with regard to hazardous materials and other disasters: Prevention, Preparedness, Response and Recovery, Planning, Training and Exercises.
